It's like mowing the lawn on a hot day and a glass of ice cold lemonade afterwards. I'm not exactly sure why the two go together, but they do. There is something about this type of reading that is so refreshing from the imaginative concentration of writing about invented characters.

I think that the best kind of reading to do when you are writing fiction is a historical book or a biography or a travel book - something factual.
